A short guide for ordering a translation job

Identify your translation needs

LANGUAGE DIRECTIONS

Specify the source language and desired target language(s).

QUALITY EXPECTATIONS – MACHINE TRANSLATION OR A PROFESSIONAL LINGUIST?

A machine translation with a bug report would yield the lowest quality, but it can save time and costs if it fits the purpose. We provide instructions how to fix your text based on the bug report. We offer also classical revised translations made by professional linguists – this would be the best choice if the top quality is crucial.

SERVICES NEEDED

You can order complex services (please see our service descriptions). We can provide glossaries and compile translation memories based on the previous translations. We also councel regarding the best ways to manage your document translation flow inside your company.

STYLE AND TARGET AUDIENCE

Indicate the target audience for the translation: specialist facing or non-specialist facing? Add any style guides, if available.

PRICE REQUEST

You get a free quote! Please submit your translation needs along with a price request for each specific service separately, stating your desired deadline. Prices are based on the language combination, service ordered, deadline and some other factors (mainly regarding sworn translations: printing documents, meeting in person etc.).

REFERENCE TEXT

Send your reference text(s): you can send your final text after the job has been confirmed.

We will evaluate your request

VOLUME TO BE TRANSLATED

The volume of translation will be calculated on the basis of the words in your source text (one page is 250 words). You get a price reduction based on the repetitions in your text. It gives you extra leverage if you have any previous translation texts or a translation memory available! There can also be hourly jobs to be performed, you will get a separate quote for those tasks.

ABOUT DEADLINES

A non-rush deadline proposal plans enough time to complete the translation, revision and proofreading steps. Usually 5–10 pages of text are completed per day depending on the weight of the texts. Rush jobs have a special fee. You get the fastest results when ordering the machine translation and the bug report, it will reach you in a few hours!

Prepare your information

FINAL TEXTS

Ensure the texts you send are correct and final: any source text edits will count as a new job and will be billed separately.

BE CLEAR ABOUT INSTRUCTION AND REQUIREMENTS

Ensure clear communication by specifying your instructions. If you have a style guide, be sure to add it. If you have an in-house linguist/terminology specialist, it could be useful to add this person in the communication thread.

Provide feedback on the translation

UPON RECEIVING YOUR WORK

Give feedback on the translation, human made or machine translation. The translator and editor will appreciate it! Feedback allows us to offer you even higher quality in the future.
